Overview
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a simple, powerful way to release anxiety by tapping on specific acupressure points on the upper body.
The first time I tried it, I wasn’t impressed — it didn’t shift physical pain the way I’d seen it demonstrated. A few months later I came across it being used for fears and anxiety instead… and it clicked. It worked. I’ve been a convert ever since.
What can EFT be used for?
Pretty much anything that makes you feel anxious or stuck. That might be something small, like a knot in your stomach after too much coffee, or deeper fears that have been hanging around for years.
Common examples include:
- Stressful work situations
- Social anxiety
- Nerves before a presentation
- Exam stress
- Trouble sleeping
- Procrastination
- Grief
These are just a starting point. If it’s worrying you, EFT can usually help.
Why Ruth became a fan of EFT
When I first discovered EFT being used for emotional pain, I was dealing with PTSD. Conventional therapy hadn’t helped — in fact, it had made things worse.
I taught myself EFT and used it to clear the anxiety and fear that had kept me trapped in my own home. From that day on I’ve sworn by it, both for myself and for my clients.
How long does EFT take?
It depends.
A mild worry might shift in a few minutes. Something deeper or more tangled can take longer. What usually happens is that the issue you start with isn’t the root cause — as one layer clears, related fears surface. We keep going until the original anxiety and its roots are gone.

Benefits
- Clearer focus
- Once a fear or anxiety is properly cleared, it doesn’t come back
- Releases nervous tension
- Leaves people feeling lighter and more themselves
- Works for almost any situation
